First, it is important to distinguish between a minor inconvenience and a true emergency.

However, most issues with braces—like broken wires, loose brackets, or poking wires—are not true emergencies. While they can be annoying or slightly uncomfortable, they can usually be managed at home until you can schedule an appointment during normal clinic hours.

1. Poking or Protruding Wire

3. Broken Archwire

If the main wire snaps completely, it can poke into the gums or cheek.
