What Are Dental Crowns

Crowns are synthetic caps, usually made of a material like porcelain, placed on the top of a tooth.

Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance following a restorative procedure such as a root canal. When decay in a tooth has become so advanced that large portions of the tooth must be removed, crowns are often used to restore the tooth.

Crowns are also used to attach bridges, cover implants, and prevent a cracked tooth from becoming worse, or an existing filling is in jeopardy of becoming loose or dislocated. Teeth caps also serve an aesthetic use and are applied when a discoloured or stained tooth needs to be restored to its natural appearance.

Procedure

A tooth must usually be reduced in size to accommodate a crown. An impression is made of the existing tooth and an impression is made. Then it sent to a special lab, which manufactures a custom-designed crown. In some cases, a temporary crown is applied until the permanent crown is ready. Permanent crowns are cemented in place.

What Are Dental Bridges

Bridges are natural looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom-made, bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.

Dental bridges, also known as fixed partial dentures, are semi-permanent solutions securely bonded to your natural teeth or implants teeth. Some types of bridges can be removed by the wearer for cleaning, while others can only be removed by a dentist.

Porcelain, gold alloys or combinations of materials are usually used to make bridge appliances.

Appliances called implant bridges are attached to an area below the gum tissue, or the bone.

Disadvantage

Irreversible Procedure: Placing an oral bridge typically requires grinding down healthy teeth on either side of the gap to support the bridge. This is irreversible damage to healthy teeth.
Not Suitable for Everyone: You need healthy teeth on either side of the gap to support the bridge. Those with insufficient jawbone density or certain health conditions may not be good candidates.
Maintenance: Bridges require good oral hygiene practices, including flossing under the bridge, to maintain good dental health and prevent issues with the supporting teeth.
Potential for Future Issues: The teeth supporting the bridge may decay or become damaged over time, requiring further dental work.

Caring for your Crowns

A high quality of crown with having proper care can last up to eight years or longer. It is very important to floss in the area of the crown to avoid excess plaque or collection of debris around the restoration.

Certain behaviors such as jaw clenching or bruxism (teeth grinding) significantly shorten the life of a crown. Moreover, eating brittle foods, ice or hard candy can compromise the adhesion of the crown, or even damage the crown.

I had made a Facebook enquiry and within 1 day I recieved 7 phone calls I advised that I would like to removed from the calling list , recieved 2 further calls where I again asked to be removed then a what’s app message where I sent official feedback about the constant calling and requested they pass this on to the practice owner, I then blocked that number and recieved more phone calls again . This is the worst approach I have ever seen and deeply regret making the enquiry and the sheer desperation of calls is concerning even though I provided feedback and asked that this be actioned. This is now a form of harassment and concerning

My experience here was sublime. Dr Shavita and Dr Nick the principal dentists gave me a pleasant experience despite my usual struggles when visiting a dentist. They had calming music playing throughout with beautiful videos of nature. They were delicate in their approach which met my needs and constantly assured me making sure I was fine during the procedure. They were very friendly and provided me with a fun loving experience. Many of their staff also went above and beyond. I would recommend and will be returning to utilise their services. Hopefully the end result that I am looking for will be achieved.

I’ll just start by saying thank you, thank you to the team at Your Family Dentist in Liverpool - from when you first walk in and are greeted by the always happy and always helpful receptionist’s to the caring and skilled doctors and assistants.
I brought my dad in at first because he was in pain, only to find out that he needed some serious work done. We were basically hand held and guided through the entire process with no details missed. The ladies at reception helped us with payment options. They worked with our hectic schedules, had a comforting setting ready at every visit and were just awesome altogether.
We are now repeating the same process but for my mum. I will recommend this dental practice to anyone that will listen. The owners are very involved and really care about safety and quality.

Highly Recommended Dentist. Infact my family members are very happy with their treatments too.
I appreciated the warmth of staff and their professionalism. They treat you with respect, calm, and they actually listens to what you're saying and give advice you want to hear regards to your treatments. I pay my treatments as I go as I refuse to go on plan and they respected that.

I recently visited my family dentist and was blown away by the level of customer service. The staff was incredibly attentive and made sure all my needs were met. I paid around $21,000 to this dentist about a year ago to repair my teeth. Despite multiple visits and investing a lot of time and money, the results were very disappointing. My teeth are now in worse condition than before, and I'm still in pain. I truly regret choosing this clinic. I recommend “Your Family Dentist”in Liverpool highly to anyone who needs dental treatment, crowns, root canal or anything to do with your teeth.

This dental office is owned by the Bhayani, Dr Nick and Dr Shaveta and they have a bunch of excellent staff. You feel at home as soon as you enter and they do their work with love. I have been with them from 2020 and I am still with them.
